- Luke 17:20-21 )
- And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
Listening to the Holy Spirit
When Jesus was teaching, He would often say, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear
(Matthew 11:15).
In the letters to the seven churches recorded in the book of Revelation, the ascended Christ would end each letter with, He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches
(Chapters 2-3).
Belief in Two Powers: Knowledge of Good and Evil
Note: This contemplation should be read before reading “Should I See a Physician” and “Dare We Trust God for our Physical Well-Being?”
In the beginning God
(Genesis 1:1), the God who is love (1John 4:8,16) and therefore good. And all that He created was very good

in Revelation 19:6.

Mental Knowledge vs Spiritual Revelation
We all want to know God, for
John 17:3 . . . this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
Darkness Before the Dawn
We’ve often heard the saying that it is darkest before the dawn, meaning that often things get worse before they get better; so we should not admit defeat when victory is just ahead.
And we have Scriptures which give us this same encouragement:
Baptism by Fire
In the discussion between Jesus and His disciples recorded in Mark 10:32-45, Jesus, first of all, tells them of His upcoming crucifixion and resurrection which, of course, they do not comprehend. He is telling them that, as the last Adam, He is about to destroy the devil —the humanity, the ego, which characterizes man living in this world. This is what must take place before the man Jesus can be resurrected as the Christ, the Life-giving Spirit that enlightens every man that comes into the world (John 1:9).
The Temptations of Jesus
- Matthew 3:16-17
- And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
- Matthew 4:1
- Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
